Important Updates

If you’ve been to Sadlers Creek State Park this week, you will have noticed that the forest management project has started. They will be clearing the VA pines through May. Although, it’s disturbing to see the tree clearing, it’s necessary for the health of our forest. The many trees you see down are the invasive VA pines — many small branches, short needles, little pinecones. Hardier native long leaf loblolly pines will be planted in the effort to restore our long leaf forest. Watch for details on a zoom call with Ranger Felton to learn more about the project

Thank you for dropping off your Christmas trees and for donating cinder blocks. If you’d like to help with moving and dropping the trees, or can donate cinder blocks, contact the office at 864-226-8950 or contact rfelton@scprt.com. Like us on Facebook to watch for details on volunteer opportunities.
